Lava Shell massage is a type of heat treatment that uses Tiger-striped clam shells as a massage tool. The clams have been harvested for food in the Philippines for hundreds of years. The shells used to be thrown away, but are now being recycled and used for Lava Shell massage. The heat is produced by inserting a ‘lava gel sachet’ and ‘activator liquid’ into the shell which then emits continuous heat, allowing therapists to provide an uninterrupted and seamless body massage. Due to the lava shells’ unique shape and angles they become an extension of the therapist’s hands, deploying deeply therapeutic relief to where it is needed.
