Reflexology
Profoundly relaxing and balancing treatment performed on the feet to encourage health and vitality. It differs to a massage because rather than focusing on releasing tension in the soft tissue of the foot itself the reflexologist works on very specific reflex points on the foot that connect energetically to the body as a whole, releasing blockages and supporting the body's innate healing abilities. Hugely beneficial in counteracting the effects of stressful lives and a favourite among expectant mothers (after the first trimester) to alleviate discomfort.

Hot Stone Massage
Uses smooth volcanic basalt stones heated and oiled, to smoothly but firmly work into tense and knotty muscles. The stones are an effective medium for retaining heat and, combined with the massaging action on the muscles, relaxes and releases muscular tension. The heat from the stones also expands blood vessels allowing increased blood flow which in turn brings fresh oxygen and nutrients and helps to remove toxins. Overly tense muscles can hinder the massage procedure, so if your muscles are extremely tight or stiff, the heated stones may provide the extra relaxation you need for the massage to be beneficial in releasing tension and easing sore muscles.

Warm Bamboo Massage
A relatively new style of massage that, due to it's effectiveness, is fast gaining popularity. During treatment warm organic coconut oil is worked into the skin and heated bamboo tools are used to stretch out areas of tightness interspersed with targeted deep pressure work on knots and trigger points. Just like all modalities of massage muscle tension is treated but in this case using a range of different sized warmed silky bamboo canes which allow the application of deeper broader pressure and longer sweeping strokes. As with other thermal massage treatments, the heat imparted to the soft tissues from the bamboo enhances the releasing effect on the muscles and connective tissue and bamboo massage makes for a good alternative for, or complement to deep tissue massage.

Reiki
Reiki generates a sense of inner peace and deep relaxation as it gently influences the recipient's individual system towards balance. During a treatment energy passes through the practitioner's hands as they are placed non-intrusively on the recipient’s fully clothed recumbent body. Reiki is a system of natural healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century and is open to any belief system. It sits happily alongside other conventional or complementary treatments so as well as being a stand alone treatment it also lends itself well to inclusion in any other therapies as a shorter taster for those who want to try it without too much commitment.
